Product Review: Guy Cotten Fishing Bibs

When the weather turned foul this fall, I was happy to have my pair of Guy Cotten Fishing Bibs. From a headboat off Nantucket Shoals to a rainy day on the local pond, this pair of bibs kept me dry and comfortable throughout the fall. While I only used them from October on, the lightweight material made them perfect for a full season of fishing. There is ample room to layer up in the winter, and they are comfortable enough to wear into June.

Regarding the tech, the bibs have 200 gram per sq. meter of microporous polyamide coating, which means you don’t need to worry about hooks snagging, poking holes in the material. The interior lining is a slick seamless material that slides easily over fleece pants on cooler days, or any lightweight fishing pants for the days you’re pushing through a morning squall. Additional features include a large water-sealed zipper that runs down the chest makes putting on, or taking off jackets and layers extremely efficient.

  • The Bib Fishing is completely watertight (+10000 mm), breathable (Ret<15) and acts as a windcheater. The seams are thermal bounded taped to make them waterproof.
  • The Bib Fishing can be worn effectively with the Top Fishing Smock.
  • It is sufficiently high to protect the bottom of the back and prevent any air ingress.
  • Elastic sides ensure that the clothing fits well so that air does not pass.
  • The large elastic braces are comfortable on the shoulder. They can be adjusted to suit all sizes.
  • The large-teeth zip and large gusset prevent water ingress and make it easier to slip on.
  • It has a watertight pocket closing with a self-grip flap on the thigh, where objects can be placed to protect them from the water.
  • There is an eyehole at the bottom of the pocket for water evacuation.
  • Ankle adjustment tabs flatten fabric on legs to fit in boots and improve waterproofing.
  • The bib is completely lined in polyamide to make use comfortable.
